Meetings are held quarterly.
The Committee shall serve as an advisory Committee to the Board of County Commissioners on issues relating to chemical abuse in Martin County.
Initial Committee consisted of 15 volunteer members who were officially appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. More volunteers have subsequently joined the Committee. The Committee consists of representatives from the following: State Attorney; City of Stuart; School Board; Treatment Representative; Circuit Court Judge; Public Defender; Sheriff's Department; Sheriff's Department (jail); Martin County Commission; Town of Sewall's Point; Town of Jupiter Island; Clerk of the Court; two private citizens; and one youth member (non-voting)
Members shall be appointed to serve a one year term which may be renewed at the discretion of the Board of County Commissioners. On July 24, 2000, the BCC authorized the solicitation of a youth member to serve on the Committee as a non-voting member.
