Other Info

  • Pursuant to a request by the Board of County Commissioners, to make its special knowledge and expertise available to any official, department, board, or agency. Examination of contractor's license holders and applicants. Licensing of contractors. Review of violations of chapter by license holders. The CILB shall be the Adjustment and Appeals Board pursuant to Sections 21.20 and 21.21, General Ordinances, Martin County Code. The CILB shall be the Local Construction Regulation Board (Section 489.113(4) FS).

  • Prior to appointment, each member of the CILB shall be a registered voter in Martin County and all contractor members shall have been actively operating in the construction industry in Martin County for at least three consecutive years as a County-licensed or State-certified contractor. No member shall hold another elective public office or be an employee of Martin County or any municipality within Martin County.

    The CILB shall have nine members and be composed of the following:

    2 members, each of whom shall be either a general, building, or residential contractor;

    1 electrical contractor;

    1 plumbing contractor;

    1 heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation contractor (HARV);

    1 registered architect or registered engineer; and

    3 consumer representatives who are not, and have never been members or practitioners of any profession regulated by the CILB or a member of any closely related profession.

  • The Board of County Commissioners shall make the following appointments to the CILB for the terms beginning November 30, 2010: 1 member who is either a general, building, or residential contractor shall be appointed for a 1 year term; 1 member who is either a general, building, or residential contractor shall be appointed for a 3 year term; 1 member who is an electrical contractor shall be appointed for a 1 year term; 1 member who is a plumbing contractor shall be appointed for a 2 year term; 1 member who is a HARV contractor shall be appointed for a 3 year term; 1 member who is a registered architect or registered engineer shall be appointed for a 2 year term; 1 consumer representative shall be appointed for a 1 year term; 1 consumer representative shall be appointed for a 2 year term; 1 consumer representative shall be appointed for a 3 year term.

    Thereafter, all appointments shall be for a 3 year term beginning on November 30. The member's term of office shall terminate earlier at the pleasure of the Board of County Commissioners, or automatically if the member: ceases to be a registered voter in Martin County; ceases to be qualified as outlined above; or fails to attend three successive, regularly scheduled, monthly meetings. Members shall serve without compensation, but may receive actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their official duties.
